INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT APPLICATION NEW PROCESS


The federal government of Nigeria has reviewed international passport application process in Nigeria. The new process addresses some vital issues with the old way of passport application. Some of the issues addressed include:

  1. Easy application without the help of any immigration officer.
  2. Reduction in the cost of acquiring international passport.
  3. Reduction of passport processing waiting time.

International passport requirements (fresh application)

Adult (18 years and above)
  1. Letter of identification from Local Government/State of origin or residence or National Identity Card OR Letter of introduction for employees of government as a Nigerian citizen stating Service Number, Length of Service and Designation/Rank. The letter must be accompanied with a valid staff identity card;
  2. Completed passport application form and 2 passport sized photographs (passport photographs endorsed at the back by the Guarantor);
  3. Completed Guarantors’ form duly signed by a Commissioner for Oaths attached with Photocopy of Data page of Guarantor’s Nigerian ePassport and one passport sized photograph of the Guarantor;
  4. Marriage certificate, where applicable;
  5. Birth Certificate (certificate issued by the National Population Commission shall be required from applicants whose date of birth is with effect from Dec 1992) or Age Declaration attached with one passport-sized photograph and duly endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths
  6. Acknowledgement slip and evidence of payment.
Minor (under 18 years of age)
  1. Completed passport application form attached with 1 passport sized photograph of minor to be endorsed on the reverse side by the consenting parent/s;
  2. Evidence of Nigerian citizenship of parent/s;
  3. Birth certificate (certificate must be issued by the National Population Commission for minors born within Nigeria);
  4. Letter of consent from either parent;
  5. Acknowledgement slip and evidence of payment;
Court Order and Letter of approval from State Ministry of Women and Child Development (This Requirement is strictly for adopted child).

Cost
The reviewed cost of the international passport varies from N10,750 to N22,000 depending on applicant's age & the category of international passport applied for. 

Categories
The categories of international passport are 32 pages valid for 5 years and 64 pages valid for 5years & 10 years. Choosing the category of international passport to apply for depends solely on individuals' choices.

International passport processing timeline now ranges from 72 hours to 10 working days depending on the class of your passport application.

Almajiri’s invasion: Southern, Middle Belt leaders raise alarm

Leaders of the Southern and Middle Belt Forum, SMBF, have raised alarm over the invasion of the Southern and Middle Belt regions by the Almajiris. The leaders urged the people of the regions to be vigilant, and advert what it called possible spread of Coronavirus in the areas by the Northern elements. Nigerians, other nationals suspended from entering China

The Chinese government has suspended entry into China by Nigerians and other nationals in Nigeria holding valid Chinese visas or residence permits. This new order is due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Embassy of China and Consulate in Nigeria announced this in a public notice on Thursday, adding that it will no longer issue a certified health declaration form for non-Chinese nationals in the country. According to the communique, entry by holders of diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected. Foreign nationals visiting  China for emergency needs may apply for visas at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate. Also entry by non-Chinese nationals in Nigeria with visas issued after 3 November 2020 will not be affected.
